First Digital Element Pack Freebie

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you all had a nice weekend. I was busy all weekend long with family functions to attend. I didn't get a chance to create any new cards. Fortunately, I have the day off today so I made a card for my friend's birthday tomorrow.  The picture quality is not that good because I took it with my iPhone 4. I had poor lighting. But cards are always better looking in real life than in still picture anyways.  Well, here is the card:

I like giving hand made cards because it's more special and the card is unique from any others. I usually never make duplicate cards or cards that are identical. I may use the same template or sketch but different materials. I love how this card turned out with the beautiful floral print. I embossed a texture on it as well as did some border stitching with my Singer Stylist sewing machine. I stitched a pink ribbon on it as well and tied on a pink fiber. To finish it off, I added three rose buds. I love how the pinks and blue compliment each other really well. I hope she will love the card as much as I enjoy creating it for her.

Also, I have another digital freebie for you guys for this week. It's my first element pack freebie. It's eight different kinds of stamp frames that come in both plain and pre-shadow. They also come in four different colors that can be easily recolor. All elements are created in Adobe Photoshop CS5 in 300 dpi. The link for the download is below.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful week. I'll see you guys back here again this weekend with maybe another digital freebie. Come back at the end of the week to see what the next freebie will be.

And again as always, please leave a comment if you download. I would love to hear what you think about my designs. Thank you.

What does Kaj Siab mean?

People often ask me what my logo "Kaj siab" stands for. So this post is to answer that question. Kaj siab is a Hmong word which translate to "happy heart" or "better heart". Yes, I am a Hmong American. For those out there who do not know who the Hmong are, as stated in the wikipedia; The Hmong are an Asian ethnic group from the mountainous regions of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Hmong are also one of the sub-groups of the Miao ethnicity (苗族) in southern China. My family were refugees of the Vietnam war. We came to the United States in 1986 in search of a better life. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to come to the United States and I never take it for granted.

So, why choose those words, "Kaj siab"? Because when I craft and do my work, I feel complete joy and happiness. I craft from my heart and with all my heart. That's why the name is so perfect for me. The name may sound funny but it has a beautiful meaning behind it. I hope that clarifies it. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions.

First Digital Freebie-Glossy Metal Alpha

I didn't mention it in my last post but I've been doing some digital designing for some time now too. About two years. I have not posted my items or sold it in any shops. I've been stashing them away until now. I haven't participated in any design teams either because I've been so busy. I often wish I could make time but with work and the family, it seems impossible. There are so many great designers out there and I would just love the opportunity to work with them but I just could never make the time until now.

Okay, now on to the freebie. Today, I'm offering my first digital freebie. It's a alpha set created in Adobe Photoshop CS5. It comes in a alpha sheet which you can easily cut out each letter to use in your layout. Click on the link below to download.

I hope you enjoy this digital alpha set. Look for more digital  freebies in the end of this week. I hope to post more cards this week also.

Please leave a comment if you download. I would love to hear what you think about my designs. Thank you.
